The runDisney Virtual 5k series was introduced in 2016, and has featured Mickey and Friends and the Incredibles themes in the past and we are excited to share the news with you that it is returning in 2019! The runDisney Virtual Series will take place monthly from June 1 – August 31, 2019 and this year this fun race series will be celebrating the 80 Years of Marvel!
With this virtual 5k series you decide how many of the virtual 5ks you want to sign up for and where and when you want to walk, run, skip or even dance them. If you decide to sign up for all 3 virtual 5ks you can sign up for the Virtual 5k challenge get a bonus challenge medal. Each 5k that you register for comes with a Commemorative Finisher Medal, downloadable Race Bib and downloadable Finisher Certificate. runDisney will also be releasing a special Spotify playlist from Walt Disney Records for you to listen to while you complete your 5k.
You will not have to show proof of completion to runDisney to get your medals, but they do encourage you to share your achievement with your friends and family on social media using #runDisneyVirtual. Last year there was even special “virtual 5k race swag” available for purchase on the Shop Disney website!
The 2019 runDisney Virtual 5k series will go on sale on the runDisney website on May 7, 2019 at 10:00 AM EST. UPDATE: On March 27 runDisney updated their website to reflect that the runDisney Virtual 5k will go on sale on March 29, 2019 at 10:00 AM ET/7:00 AM PT.
At this time runDisney has not released images of the runDisney Virtual 5k medals, but we have to assume the bib theme’s they have shared are probably a hint to what Marvel character will be featured on each month’s medal.

Per runDisney:
Participants can expect to receive their medals in the mail within 30 days of the completion timeframe unless otherwise indicated. Medals will be shipped to the physical address provided at the point of registration. Please note: Medals cannot be shipped to a PO Box or APO Box, and after 3 attempts to deliver participant medals to the address provided, no additional attempts will be made. All attempts to deliver medals for this event will conclude at the end of the calendar year in which the race took place. In addition, medals shipped outside the U.S. will require an international shipping charge.
Disney reserves the right to revoke any registration for, any race for any reason in its sole discretion with refund of any applicable registration fees being the sole remedy of any such refusal and/or revocation.
